Health from the Earth

The concept of grounding is a timeless practice but a modern discovery. Grounding, also known as earthing, is a bare-skin connection with the earth. This connection is often thought of as bare feet on the dirt, but it can also be swimming in the ocean or bare hands on a tree, or petting an animal that is on the ground. Grounding is something that the human race was naturally doing for most of its existence on earth, but has recently gotten away from. Humans originally walked barefoot or had footwear made of things like leather, which does not break the connection with the earth and also would sleep on the ground. The average adult is often not grounded at all during the day in modern society. Living in an insulated house up off the ground and wearing rubber-soled shoes when going outside. This started after world war 2 where insulating materials started commonly being used in footwear. Recent research is showing that this disconnect from the earth is contributing to the increase in diseases. Interestingly, this does not just apply to humans. We are also seeing pets develop diseases similar to humans not seen in wild animals. It is hypothesized that we have benefits from grounding because when we are connected to the earth, we absorb electrons from the earth and reduce the
body’s electrical imbalance. The earth is basically a giant, free antioxidant. The earth naturally gets these electrons mostly from lightning strikes. There have been 10s of 1000s of published peer-reviewed articles on the benefits of grounding and the necessity of the Earth’s negative charge in stabilizing the body’s bioelectrical environment. Through grounding we are able to balance the electrical environment of the body, which is important because the body functions based on electrical signals. Electrical signals are how our brain functions and our cells communicate.

Benefits:

Sleeping grounding has been shown to help with conditions such as
rheumatoid arthritis, PMS, sleep apnea, hypertension, asthma, and other
respiratory conditions. Grounding has also been shown to protect against
electromagnetic fields (EMFs). It is recommended to ground for at least 30 minutes per day but it is best to
be grounded as much as possible. It is important to be properly hydrated for the grounding to be effective. Some people develop flu-like symptoms the first time grounding due to the body detoxifying. There are products that can allow you to be grounded indoors. They work by being plugged into the grounding port of an outlet. For this it is important to be sure that the outlet is grounded. If the house is up to regulation then it should be but I have been in houses before where the outlets were not grounded. Some common ground products include: Grounding patches, Grounding mat, Grounding wrist band, Grounding mattress cover, Grounding
yoga mat. The official site to get earthing products is All Products (earthing.com). But they do also have cheaper options on amazon or it is always free to go outside and use the actual earth.
